Our cosmetic dentist specializes in teeth whitening, which is one of our most popular cosmetic procedures. We offer a variety of whitening options all of which have incredible results. We offer two different teeth whitening options: In-office whitening with the Zoom 2 system, and professional, custom designed at-home teeth whitening kits.
Many people need teeth whitening. Some of the most common causes of stained or yellowing teeth are:
- Food and drink that cause staining, including berries, coffee, tea, red wine, and other dark-colored foods
- Illness or injury
- Tetracycline (found in some topical medications) and other chemicals
- The aging process—no matter how careful we are, our teeth naturally change color as we age
In most instances, our patients will see the results they want through the use of our in-office Zoom 2 whitening treatments or our at-home treatments. In cases of stubborn or deep discolorations such as those resulting from medication side effects, injury, or illness, porcelain veneers may be your best option to achieve the beautiful, white smile wanted.
Advanced Zoom Chairside Tooth Whitening
Our in-office procedure uses the Advanced Zoom teeth whitening system, providing the most dramatic teeth whitening results possible.
In just one hour-long visit to our office, our Pittsburgh cosmetic dentist will whiten your teeth by 9-12 shades using the Advanced Zoom teeth whitening system.
The treatment begins with the application of a prescription strength bleaching gel to your teeth, which will then be activated with a specially calibrated bright light to achieve maximum whitening in a minimum amount of time.
Take-Home Teeth Whitening Treatments
In addition to our in-office cosmetic dental procedures, we also offer custom at-home teeth whitening kits if you prefer to whiten your teeth from the comfort of your own home.
The take-home procedure begins with a single visit to our Pittsburgh office, during which we will take a precise impression of your mouth and design a custom tray for you to use for the tooth whitening procedure. Once the dental tray is made, we will provide you with a special bleaching agent to apply to your teeth. The tray will hold the bleach against your teeth for the prescribed amount of time.
In most cases, your custom tooth whitening procedure will take place over the course of several home treatments anywhere between one week and one month, but the time frame in which you will achieve your desired result depends on your personal condition and goals.
